Karan Johar (born May 25, 1972, Mumbai) is one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema. He wears many hats, including film director, producer, television host, and fashion icon. Son of the celebrated producer Yash Johar, Karan's early career began as an assistant director on the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), which shaped his future in Bollywood.

He made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), a romantic-comedy drama that won multiple awards, including National Film Award and Filmfare Awards for Best Director and Screenplay. His major hits include Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna(2006), My Name Is Khan (2010), and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). Karan is known for his unique blend of family emotions, glamour, and larger-than-life storytelling.

Founder of Dharma Productions, his banner has produced box-office blockbusters such as Student of the Year (2012), Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Raazi (2018), Brahm?stra (2022), and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), reaffirming his status as a top producer. Karan is also famous as the host of India’s most popular celebrity chat show Koffee with Karan.

Recognized for his contribution to Indian cinema and culture, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 2020.
